Over the years, Eggo has expanded their range to include more breakfast items. One popular addition are Eggo Pancakes. Eggo blueberry pancakes microwave up to a nice fluffy texture and include real blueberries.

Another new addition to Eggo’s breakfast lineup are French Toaster Sticks. These treats come out of the toaster piping hot and offer a great cinnamon taste.

An essential addition to any pancake or waffle is maple syrup. Eggo now offers a great thick syrup including a lite version with half the calories.

When the first Kellogg’s television commercial appeared in 1972 about Eggo Waffles, it portrayed a father and son grabbing for an Eggo. You can see that they both had a hand on the Eggo as they began to say “Leggo my Eggo”. The scene cuts away as the Father begins to talk with his son about all the reasons he should get to enjoy the Eggo for breakfast. After a brief discussion on the father’s part, the son simply says “Leggo my Eggo” but the confusing part is – you never really see either of them let go of the Eggo.

Did you know that Eggo waffles had an earlier birth than when that commercial originally aired? Eggo waffles actually made their debut in the 1930′s by the Dorsa brothers in California as ‘Froffles’. In the 1950′s, Froffles were then introduced to the supermarket chains. This meant no more waffle irons for all the mothers who had children that simply loved waffles. Mothers were so impressed with the eggy taste of Froffles they began calling them Eggo’s. In, or around, the mid 50′s the Dorsa brothers decided to change the name of Froffles to Eggo Waffles.

In the 1970′s Kellogg’s bought Eggo as well as a few other brand names, and began their memorable marketing campaign with their new slogan “Leggo my Eggo”. Kellogg’s Eggo Waffles have come a long way since that commercial first aired, and to be honest, at that time mothers waffles were still king. But do you really think that Kellogg’s had seen this far in the future, and knew how much of a success Eggo’s would actually be? Eggo Waffles are much more than just a simple waffle today and the reasons are very obvious if you’re an Eggo Waffle connoisseur.

Eggo Homestyle Waffles are some of the best waffles you’ve ever tasted but Kellogg’s didn’t just stop there. Today, Kellogg’s has over 15 different waffle products such as, Homestyle, Buttermilk, Strawberry, Chocolate, Cinnamon, Thick-n-Fruity, Cinnamon Toast, French Toast, FiberPlus Buttermilk Waffles, and the list goes on. Eggo Waffles have become a staple among people that had been born pre-1970. Most everyone with a toaster was familiar with the Eggo and for good reason, they’re quick and they’re good.

With all the technology available today you would think that something else would have been developed to surpass the Eggo but nothing has. The reason is everyone loves Eggo’s. It’s almost as if you had some Eggo’s to trade, you might be able to barter them for other goods because that’s how good they are. The nutritional value for Eggo’s is quite good because they are low on calories and high in vitamins. They contain milk, eggs, wheat, and soy ingredients. Eating Eggo’s with a balanced breakfast is quite nutritional, but as all things, everything should be eaten in moderation. This means, eating Eggo’s everyday may be an issue.

Thinking back on the earlier Eggo commercial in 1972, my hope is the father and son shared the Eggo so they both could enjoy all the benefits that Eggo Waffles can provide.
